To qualify for Council membership, a candidate must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Demonstrated leadership and involvement in Cornell activities for 5 or more years
- Achievement of significant leadership role in business, profession, or vocation
- Significant contribution to the betterment of society through leadership in community, education, charitable organizations, or other humanitarian undertakings
Member expectations
Council members are expected to:
- Serve as a Cornell Ambassador
- Give to Cornell
- Nominate Cornell volunteers
- Attend Trustee-Council Annual Meeting
- Share knowledge via CUeLINKS
- Vote in the Alumni Trustee Election
- Attend Cornell Alumni Leadership Conference
- Continue volunteering in other Cornell activities
Member terms
- Terms are four years
- Each four-year term is followed by a mandatory two-year hiatus. Members will automatically be considered for another four-year term based on their meeting member expectations.
