January 22—23 | Philadelphia Marriott Downtown
Important News about CALC | 5:00 P.M. Thursday, January 21, 2016
Throughout the afternoon, we have been monitoring the latest developments regarding the weather in Philadelphia. The Governor of Pennsylvania has issued a state of emergency in anticipation of the expected weather and a blizzard watch has been issued for the Philadelphia area, with expectations of significant snow and high winds.
After consultation with state and local officials, we have regretfully made the decision to cancel this weekend’s Cornell Alumni Leadership Conference. This includes all sessions, meetings and events associated with CALC throughout the weekend, including the Friday evening reception with President Elizabeth Garrett. For those who have informal gatherings or class dinners planned, please be in touch with those classmates or others coordinating the event for more details regarding the status.
We regret this late cancellation but the safety of our alumni, students and staff is paramount. We apologize for any inconvenience experienced as a result of this change. Beginning next week, we will be refunding all registration fees for those who paid in advance. More details on this will be forthcoming. Regarding rooms at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, if your reservation is made in the CALC block, your room will be automatically cancelled on Friday morning at no charge. If you want to keep your reservation, please contact the hotel directly at 215-625-6139.
For those who have already arrived or are on their way, we will host an informal reception this evening (Thursday, January 21) at 6:00 p.m. on the 5th floor of the Marriott Downtown.
As you know, snow rarely stops a group of Cornellians but we are focused on everyone’s safety. Thank you for your understanding.

About the Cornell Alumni Leadership Conference
CALC is Cornell's flagship volunteer event! Volunteer leaders of numerous clubs, classes, associations, positions, and geographies come together to communicate, collaborate, brainstorm, learn, and share, creating connections and synergies that benefit all Cornellians.
The conference features a mix of faculty and staff presentations, alumni-led discussions, trustee insights, board meetings, networking opportunities, organization-specific programs, and even a little time on the town.
