The good Cornellians can do: Troy Resch ’91
Shortly before the birth of his third child, Troy Resch ’91’s daughter contracted swine flu. To avoid catching the flu, Troy’s wife Zoe went into quarantine. The baby was born healthy, but the family needed some time to regroup after a month apart.
They rented a historic home through the Landmark Trust USA, a nonprofit that restores and protects historic properties for public enjoyment. The trust sustains its work through vacation rentals. Troy and his family stayed at the Dutton Farmhouse overlooking Mount Monadnock in Vermont.
“For four lovely summer days we walked the fields and lay on the lawn, listening to the rhythmic summer breezes blending with the songs of the meadow inhabitants,” Troy says, “and, as a family, we reunited and welcomed our newest addition.”
Troy went on to rent other trust properties, and, inspired by the experience, he decided to join the Landmark Trust USA board. Troy works as a property manager for Yale University’s non-academic properties in New Haven, Connecticut. As a Landmark Trust USA board member, he helped navigate pandemic booking losses. He is pleased to report that the trust is now well positioned to expand.
“Property management is not a glamorous profession,” Troy says, “but it is essential to fostering dynamic and interesting communities.”
