Retired professor Nelson Hairston shares his knowledge about freshwater ecology with land stewards in Kohala, Hawai’i.

Nelson Hairston, Frank H. T. Rhodes Professor of Environmental Science, Emeritus (on the left), is a freshwater ecologist who moved to Hawai’i after retiring from Cornell. Here, he joins a team of land stewards who are working to protect and restore streams in Kohala, Hawai’i, to provide cleaner and more abundant water for residents.
