Dear Cornell alumni,

It is with great regret that Renie and I must announce the cancellation of our planned lecture on Thursday. Prof. Jacobson has had a family medical emergency and must cut short his visit to Israel. We hope very much to reschedule this event at some point in the future.

In the meantime, Renie and I are working on some other programming ideas for coming months and will keep you posted.

If I am already writing, I would like to share the idea for one social event—is there interest in holding a pot-luck picnic for members of the Cornell alumni family and friends, perhaps on a Friday at the Yarqon in Tel-Aviv? I think this might be a great way to get to know fellow Cornellians in an informal way. Any suggestions would be appreciated (if this idea appeals to you, please do write and let us know so that we can gauge the turnout). Young Cornell alumni did such a gathering about 8 years ago and it went quite well.
