Join alumni, students, faculty and administrators for a reception in recognition of the 50th Anniversary of the Willard Straight Hall Occupation and plaque dedication. A plaque will be dedicated to the importance of the occupation in Cornell University’s history and in the broader Civil Rights Movement.

The 50th Anniversary of the Occupation of Willard Straight Hall – Then & Now

Join us as we close the weekend with a community brunch featuring Ms. Irene Smalls ’71, founder of the Wari Cooperative (Wari House). She will reflect on her time on campus and the changes in climate and culture as a result of the Willard Straight Hall Occupation in 1969. We will also remember the life and legacy of the late Gloria Joseph, PhD ‘67, the inaugural director of the Committee on Special Education Projects (COSEP).
