Prospective Changes in the Fair Labor Standards Act Regulations… and Developments at Cornell University

Networking reception and discussion featuring Dean Kevin Hallock, School of Industrial and Labor Relations, and Professor Dave Sherwyn, School of Hotel Administration

Presented by the Cornell Hotel Society – Arizona Chapter and the Cornell Club of Arizona, in conjunction with the Industrial and Labor Relations Arizona Alumni Chapter

Prospective new FLSA regulations may have significant impacts on the hospitality and corporate sectors. The U.S. Department of Labor’s proposed amendments to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) are projected to have an enormous effect on retail and hospitality employers. If these amendments are finalized without revision, they will result in a dramatic increase to the minimum salary required for most of the employees who qualify for white collar exemptions, among other changes. Eleven million employees will be impacted. What can employers do now to prepare for the changes that may come later this year? Join us for insights on this topic which may have wide-ranging results.

Our featured guests will also share highlights from campus, including the creation of the Cornell College of Business and the internationalization of the curriculum.
