Do you ever wonder why your power is being turned off during Santa Ana conditions when it doesn’t seem that windy? Or why does it take so long for the power to turn back on? Curious to learn about the technology being utilized behind the scenes to predict dangerous wildfire conditions? Wildfires – as San Diego residents, we’re all too familiar with them! But did you know that there are space-based fire alerts? Or that there are data analysis models that measure current AND future levels of starter material (sticks, vegetation, etc)?
Join Chris Arends (CALS ‘90), Meteorology Program Manager at San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), for a virtual “AMA” (Ask Me Anything) session to dive into this relevant and fascinating topic.
