Come celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse with the Cornell Club of Greater Philadelphia. Jack Chen, CU 2000, will host us at his wonderful Bai Wei restaurant.
The family-style menu will have vegetarian and gluten-free options and includes a wide selection of foods, including – Crispy Spring Rolls – Cucumber Salad with Garlic & Sesame – Dan Dan Noodles – Pork Wontons in Chili Sauce – Sizzling Black Pepper Beef – General Tso’s Chicken – Jumbo Shrimp with Walnut & Mayo Sauce – Spare Ribs with Sweet Plum Sauce – Mapo Tofu (vegetarian option) – Drunken Noodles with Chicken – Seasonal Mixed Vegetables – Beef Fried Rice with Black Truffle.
The Cornell Club will be providing a variety of wines. Soft drinks and tea are included. Bai Wei is at the corner of Race and 11th Streets, easily accessible by SEPTA Regional Rail Jefferson Station, SEPTA Market Frankford Line, and there is also ample paid parking in the area. This event sells out every year, so be sure to register early. Only 40 places available.
According to the South China Morning Post, “If the Wood Snake year of 2025 invited strategy and subtlety, the Fire Horse year of 2026 demands action – but action without mindfulness becomes chaos. While the energy of 2026 will be powerful, it must be channelled correctly, not merely obeyed. The fiery energy of the year can help you take leaps forward, but only if you know where you are going! 2026 arrives with hooves pounding and hearts racing. It doesn’t enter gently; it will burst into our lives demanding you to move quickly, not away from something but towards yourself.
