Cornell University and the Great War, the Centennial Anniversary

One hundred years ago, in April 1917, the first military unit carrying the Stars and Stripes entered World War I. This group was composed almost entirely of Cornell undergraduates. Cornell’s rich military history began with the founding mandate of the Morrill Land Grant Act, requiring the teaching of military science. Join Evan Earle ’02, MS ‘14, the Dr. Peter J. Thaler ’56 University Archivist, for a fascinating presentation about some of the nearly 9,000 Cornellians who served during World War I and how Cornell shaped and was influenced by the war effort.
