About Our Hosts, Speaker and Section

Economic Counselor to the Unites States Ambassador
The Economic Section plays a leading role in achieving the objectives of the Economic and Development Pillar in the U.S. Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership. The section focuses on a full range of bilateral and multilateral economic engagement and issues and coordinates closely with other U.S. government agencies to promote U.S. economic goals and facilitate economic ties between the United States and Indonesia.
The Economic Section of the U.S. Embassy comprises of the Trade and Investments Unit where it promotes bilateral trade and investment, aiming to bolster trade and investment ties between the United States and Indonesia. The unit coordinates with several U.S. government agencies to pursue new opportunities, identify and remove barriers, promote transparency, and improve the investment climate in Indonesia.
Additionally, the Section also heads the Macroeconomics and Finance Unit where it promotes cooperation between the United States and Indonesia to build greater economic prosperity and strengthen international economic security with a focus on infrastructure and entrepreneurship and other issues related to Environment, Science, Technology and Health (ESTH).

As recently announced in the speech by the U.S. Ambassador, Robert Blake, during the celebration of the 240th Anniversary of the U.S. Independence Day in Jakarta on May 26, 2016, he and his wife Sofia, will be finishing their term as the United States Ambassador to Indonesia this July.
As a token of appreciation for the amazing work that both Bob and Sofia have done in the past two and a half years to foster and further develop the relationship between Indonesia and the United States we will be dedicating this reception to thank both of them. After more than 30 years of dedication to the U.S. State Department, Robert Blake will retire from the Foreign Service when he returns to Washington D.C..
We truly appreciate the unceasing effort and initiatives that both have done to encourage our two nations to work together collaboratively to strengthen their friendship and accomplish important things in areas such as trade and investments (NIL), education, social impact, digital economy, technology and e-commerce, energy, climate, and sustainability.
It would therefore be our honor to welcome all of you the invited guests to join us at this wonderful occasion.
