This past November, Sharice Davids made history by not only unseating the Republican incumbent in a heavily conservative district, but by also being the first openly LGBTQ representative from Kansas and one of the first two Native American women elected to Congress. Sharice was raised in a single parent military home, before attending community college as a first generation college student in Kansas. From there, she soon attended Cornell Law School, receiving her Juris Doctorate in 2010, with her ambitions and willingness to serve the community stronger than ever. Her Congressional career has only just begun, but she has already shown dedication to give everyone a seat at the table. We are thrilled to honor Representative Davids and celebrate 40 years of CUGALA at this year’s Steven W. Siegel ‘68 Celebration. Please join us for this monumental event!
