Event Details

The International Spirit of Zinck’s Night is an annual event for Cornellians and their friends around the world to celebrate Cornell University. Theodore Zinck was an Ithaca saloon owner who operated Zinck’s (or the Hotel Brunswick) on Aurora Street from about 1879 until his death in 1903. His establishment was a popular hangout for Cornellians. In 1983, the Class of 1977 organized a national happy hour memorializing Zinck. This was rebranded in 1985 as the Spirit of Zinck’s Night, bringing together Cornellians for an evening of camaraderie on the third Thursday of every October (https://alumni.cornell.edu/come-back/cornell-traditions/celebrate-cornell/history/).

This year, Cornellians and friends (including students, alums, relatives, and parents) in the San Antonio area are invited to the Cornell Alumni in San Antonio (CASA) International Spirit of Zinck’s Night. This will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Flying Saucer, 11255 Huebner Rd #212, San Antonio (https://www.beerknurd.com/san-antonio-flying-saucer/) The Flying Saucer has plenty of free parking and is known for its extensive beer selection, varied food menu, and outdoor patio where our group will gather.

Feel free to come for the entire Zinck’s night celebration on 10/15 or for any portion, and to share this invitation with others in the Cornell Community. We hope to see you there on Oct. 15!
