Strengthening Democracy: How Communities Build Resilience

As the U.S. grapples with tremendous inequality and barriers to individuals’ ability to equitably engage with democracy, communities are leveraging economic and political resources to create possibilities, drive policy, and strengthen democracy. Brooks School Dean Colleen Barry will facilitate a conversation with Associate Professor Jamila Michener about her research on the erosion of democracy and how communities are building democratic institutions to advance policy.

African American heritage tour of Martha’s Vineyard
Island wide history and heritage tour via bus (some walking required).
Registration is $80 per person and tour is limited to 20 guests.

Friday, August 12, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. 
Meet me at the Inkwell! Red and white balloons will mark our spot.
Beach picnic with family and friends. Bring lunch, your towels, chairs, umbrellas etc.
We will have games for all ages and snacks. Feel free to arrive early and stay late.
