Join the Cornell Club for a day at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium! Fellow Cornell alum Kristen Miklavic is a Zookeeper and our club is excited to offer a “Meet the Keeper” talk with Kristen at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

Kristen is assigned to care for the Zoo’s herd of elephants, responsible for day-to-day care including feeding, cleaning, bathing, and training. She will discuss her daily responsibilities, share details about the elephants in the Zoo’s herd, talk about her journey from Cornell to the Zoo, and talk about the Zoo’s mission and her role in fulfilling that mission.

Kristen’s talk at 10:30 a.m. will take place at the Zoo’s PNC Pavilion, located by the entrance to Kid’s Kingdom; for the quickest way there, please follow the “S-curve” to the right of the tigers, immediately before the red panda. Please give yourself adequate time to find a parking spot, enter through the gates and up the escalator, and walk back to the Pavilion and be there for 10:30! Later in the morning, Kristen might be able to take our group to the giraffe overlook area.

Please sign up as soon as possible so that we can determine feasibility and make other necessary arrangements.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Admission tickets to the Zoo through our group are $17 for both adults and children age 2 or older (children under 2 are free). Our club will purchase group tickets; you will be required to pay when you register through the Cornell website, unless you are a member at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium in which case admission is free. Everyone should sign up by Monday, May 15, to give us adequate time to make the group ticket purchase. Anyone who does not sign up by then will not be able to obtain a ticket at the group rate.
