The Yale Club of Utah is excited to present a lecture, Reinventing the Ballet Pointe Shoe and Inventing a Business by Yale alumna Eliza Gaynor Minden ’81, an acclaimed writer, entrepreneur and dancewear designer on March 28th, Wednesday, 7 pm, at the Nancy Tessman Auditorium at the SLC Main Library.

Eliza invented and developed the multi-patented Gaynor Minden pointe shoe, modernizing a ballet shoe whose basic design had not changed in a hundred years. She will also speak about the challenges of developing a business based on her invention and expanding it into a global company reaching people in over 80 countries.

Eliza and her pointe shoe have been featured on National Public Radio, CBS News, The Discovery Channel, the BBC, on the front page of The Wall Street Journal, in the New Yorker, and in many other publications. She was named “Inventor of the Week” at M.I.T.

This lecture is free and open to the public. See the Yale Club of Utah Web site for more info, or contact yaleclubofutah@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you there!
