DIANA MADARAS
Unlocking the Creative Spirit With an Iconic Tucson Artist
We all know how hard expressing creativity can be. It’s often difficult to begin, and harnessing inspiration that generates creative work can be an enormous challenge.
This month’s speaker, Diana Madaras, knows all too well about the ups and downs of the creative process. Madaras has painted in Tucson for over 30 years. She has been voted Tucson’s Best Visual Artist eight times. Dozens of newspaper and magazine articles have been written about her and her work, and she has been featured on television shows produced by NBC, CBS and PBS affiliates. Much in demand for commissioned artwork, Madaras has completed paintings for Westin, Loews, and Miraval Resorts. She has also created 8 paintings for the estate of the former President of Mexico. Madaras earned a master’s degree from the University of Arizona in 1977. Before opening her art gallery, she operated a high-profile sports marketing company in Tucson, promoting major sporting events including LPGA and PGA golf tournaments. A month-long painting trip to Greece in 1993 changed her life, prompting her to sell her marketing company and devote her career to painting.
In her talk, Diana will give us a sneak peak into how she works: taking us through the inspiration, the process, and the completion of her paintings. She will also give us practical tips on how to get in touch with our own creativity. After learning about her work and her process, you will hopefully leave empowered to find and express your own creative truth! We’re very excited to hear from this preeminent Tucson artist, and we hope that you join us!
