Event Details

Location: Los Angeles, CA

By popular demand, we’re planning an easy hike to Mt. Hollywood.  The hike is a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being most difficult) for experienced hikers and a 5 for beginners.

We’ll begin by quickly ascending the Bird Sanctuary trail and stopping at Mt. Hollywood, overlooking the Observatory.  There will be eagle-eye views of Hollywood, Glendale, Burbank, up and down the coastline, Catalina (on a very clear day), the San Gabriel Mountains, flowing traffic (or clogged) on the maze of freeways below.

Possible optional no-host post-hike meal at the Roosevelt Café, 100 yards south of the Greek Theater…..Bring at least (2) 17-oz bottles of water, a hat and a good sun block.  You will be required to sign a waiver form before the hike starts.

Date: Saturday, May 19, 2018

Time:  7:30 am arrival; we’ll leave at 7:45 am; down by 10:00 am – we start early 1) to beat the heat, 2) to increase your odds of finding a good parking space and 3) to be down in time to enjoy the rest of the day.

Location:  Meet at the L.A. Bird Sanctuary restroom area, 2900 North Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90027 – about 200 yards north of the Greek Theater, at the point just before the road curves left, up toward the Observatory
