Come join us for a special fall outing of horseback riding and dude ranch activities with programs tailored to accommodate those with no riding experience to the more advanced riders.

The rides, guided by Cornell alumni, owners of D&K Ranch, located in the middle of Finger Lakes National Forest, in Interlaken, will take place Saturday, October 28th . Depending on interest, trail rides for advanced riders may be offered on Sunday, October 29th .

Children above the age of eight are welcome to ride.

Saturday, October 28th:
Beginners: Those with no riding experience will be introduced to your horse and with the aid of experienced coaches will mount your horse and learn basic horse handling. Once comfortable you will lead your horse through a series of simple obstacles in the rink such as navigating between cones. Session will run 45-60 minutes with approximately ten riders per session.

Advanced Beginners: For those with previous riding experience a 45-60 minute guided trail ride, with approximately ten riders, will experience some of the beautiful wooded trails on the D&K Ranch. Obstacles, including the opportunity to rope a steer (plastic) while on your horse, will add to the excitement of the ride.

Non-riders: For those who wish to join, but do not wish to ride, there will be some dude ranch activities (non-horse) for you to enjoy.

Schedule: Level of interest will determine the number of sessions offered for each ride.

Cost is $40/per person including lunch; non-riders can come for lunch only at $15/per person. Lunch catered by Smok’n Bones out of Burdett.

Beginners Ride from 11 am – 12 noon
Lunch from 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm
Advanced Beginners 1:00 – 2:00 pm

Sunday, October 29th:
If there is interest, we will organize a ride or two for Advanced Riders. Advanced riders must be capable of controlling their horses in open areas. This will be a 90 minute trail ride through the open pastures and trails of the Finger Lakes National Forest. Horses will be trailered four miles from the D&K Ranch to the trailhead. Riders should bring their own lunches for this ride.

Schedule: Level of interest will determine the number of rides offered, if any.

This ride will accommodate 8-10 riders at a cost of $50 per rider.

Ride 1: 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Lunch Break (BYO): 12:00 – 1:00 pm
Ride 2: 1:00 – 2:30 pm
