Discover Cayuga Lake with fellow Cornell alumni, family and friends aboard the M/V Teal.

Your Cornell Club of Ithaca (CCI) has organized a moonlight cruise aboard the M/V Teal on Saturday, June 15 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. departing from Treman Marina. The June full moon, commonly referred to as the strawberry moon, will occur on June 17 at 4:31 a.m. On June 15 we will experience a 97% full moon which will rise at 3:19 p.m. from the east.

Passengers may bring their own food and beverages (BYOB) on board including soft drinks, beer, and wine, which will be complemented by crackers and Cornell Dairy cheese provided by the club. The narrated cruise will highlight historical, geological and biological facts about the lake and surrounding Ithaca area. A special playlist is being curated for the moon waxing evening on Cayuga’s waters, with its waves of blue. The cost of the cruise is $33 per person with a portion of each fare/charter allocated to provide scholarships for classes and youth organizations participating in “Floating Classroom” educational cruises.

The M/V Teal, a 63-foot cruiser, launched on Cayuga Lake in May of 2018. It is operated by Discover Cayuga Lake, a non-profit whose primary mission is to provide hands-on learning opportunities in the interest of sustaining our Finger Lakes waterways for future generations. They offer eco-cruises on Cayuga Lake (May-October), class experiences doing science on the lake for grades 5 and up, Trout in the Classroom (October-May), and a variety of stream-based field trips.

Register early as seating is limited to 60 passengers. Moon themed songs are being solicited for the cruise. Send song suggestions and cruise related questions to stevedolanhr@gmail.com.
