Come join us for a special fall outing of horseback riding and dude ranch activities with programs tailored to accommodate those with no riding experience through advanced riders.  The rides, guided by D&K Ranch, located in the middle of Finger Lakes National Forest, in Interlaken, will take place Saturday, September 29th and Sunday September 30th for advanced riders.  Children above the age of eight are welcome to join on the beginner and advanced beginner rides.  Riders must be at least 15 years of age to join the advanced ride.  For riders whose weight exceeds 220 pounds, please contact the ranch to determine their ability to accommodate you.  There is a “lunch only” option, for those who wish to join but not ride, at a cost of $10 per person.

Saturday, September 29th:  
Beginners: Those with no riding experience will be introduced to their horse and with the aid of experienced coaches will mount their horse and learn basic horse handling skills. Once comfortable you will lead your horse through a series of simple obstacles in the rink such as navigating between cones.  Session will run 45-60 minutes with approximately ten riders per session.  Cost of $35 per rider includes lunch and soft drinks at the dude ranch.

Advanced Beginners: For those with previous riding experience a 45-60 minute guided trail ride, with approximately ten riders, will experience some of the beautiful wooded trails on the D&K Ranch.  Obstacles, including the opportunity to rope a steer (plastic) while on your horse, will add to the excitement of the ride.   Cost of $35 per rider includes lunch and soft drinks at the dude ranch.    

Non-riders:  For those who wish to join, but do not wish to ride, there will be some dude ranch activities (non-horse) for you to enjoy.  Cost for catered lunch and soft drinks is $10.

Schedule: Level of interest will determine the number of sessions offered for each ride. At a minimum, we will plan a        
Beginners Ride: 11:00 am – 12:00 noon
Lunch from 12:00 noon – 1:30 pm
Advanced Beginners: 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Sunday, September 30th:

If there is interest, we will organize a ride or two for Advanced Riders.  Advanced riders must be experienced, and confident riders, capable of controlling their horses in open areas. This will be a 90-120 minute trail ride through the open pastures and trails of the Finger Lakes National Forest.  A catered lunch will be provided at the D&K Dude Ranch at the conclusion of the ride.  This ride will accommodate 8 riders at a cost of $60 per rider including lunch and soft drinks.  

Schedule:  Level of interest will determine the number of rides offered.

Advanced Ride 1: 10:00 am – 12:00 noon
Lunch**: 12:00 noon – 1:30 pm
Advanced Ride 2*: 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm

* If required;
** Lunch will include an information session on the Finger Lakes National Forest and the operation of the D&K Dude Ranch as well as hands on roping instruction and practice.
