The Cornell Club of Ithaca will host the Museum Educator and Interim Curator of the Erie Canal Museum, Derrick Pratt, as part of its Lecture Series.
Constructed between 1817 and 1825, the Erie Canal was considered one of the engineering marvels of its day. This revolutionary waterway completely transformed New York State, as well as the young nation, by opening an incredible transportation link between East and West. Join the Erie Canal Museum’s Educator, Derrick Pratt, for a look into this extraordinary waterway; why and how it was built, what it accomplished, and what its status is today, with a special focus on the connection of Ithaca and Cayuga Lake to the system.
