A bookings glitch has caused us to change both date and speaker for June. We will NOT be talking about BikeShare on June 12th. Instead, we have scheduled a very timely talk on bitcoin for Thursday, June 22nd, information below. My apologies for the confusion.

Thursday, June 22nd Brown Bag Lunch on Blockchain, Bitcoin and Digital Currency.
Join us with your guests to hear Hawaii’s “Tekzar,” Gordon Bruce, guide us through the mystery of digital currency. Gordon has written and talked extensively on this hot topic on local TV, podcasts, and articles, and has advised company CFOs. He also does a live weekly television show — Hibachi Talk — where he and his co-host promote the technology industry in Hawaii.
With almost 50 years in various aspects of the tech industry Gordon Bruce provides a wide range of consulting services to companies across the State. These services include executive management consulting, business startup, business development, strategic planning and governance, cyber security consulting, network infrastructure consulting, project management and systems administration to name a few. Some of Gordon’s prior gigs include:
• Chairman and CEO of Pacxa. Under his leadership Pacxa has grown to be a $30 million a year company and the largest IT Company in Hawaii.
• Director of the Department of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer for the City and County of Honolulu.
• CIO and Vice President of Administration for the Estate of James Campbell where he was part of the executive team that helped direct the transition of the Estate from a family owned trust to a multi-billion dollar privately owned enterprise. Gordon was part of the master planning team for the development of the City of Kapolei where his involvement included the oversight of the technology infrastructure for the city of Kapolei.
• Gordon has also worked as a director for The Queen’s Medical Center, and held positions with The Bank of Hawaii, and the Corporation City of Toronto.
Gordon obtained his Masters’ degree from Hawaii Pacific University where he graduated with honors. He is also a recipient of the Paul C.T. Loo award from Hawaii Pacific University. He is an active leader in the community as a board member of Seagull Schools and is a member of Infragard (FBI Hawaii), The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, Federal Law Enforcement Foundation and Budget and Finance Committee of the Pacific Club.
