Topic: Why Diets Don’t Work and What Does

Speaker: Lori Osachy*

We live in a society that is obsessed with food, weight and body image. The message is all or nothing; indulge to excess or deprive yourself totally. As anyone knows who has tried to kick a bad habit “cold turkey,” this method of changing your life is fraught with frustration and downright disaster. That’s why 95% of people who go on diets gain the weight back.  Luckily, you never have to go on a diet again in order to be healthy and happy, and I’m going to

We encourage you to arrive promptly at noon and be prepared to order so that there is time for questions and discussion following Lori’s presentation.  The menu with choices for each course is attached below.   The price is $22 plus tax and tip.  Drinks are extra.  The Capital Grill is one of the finest restaurants in the area and we have a very nice private room.  Complimentary valet and free parking lot behind the next door Fish Market Restaurant.

*For over twenty years, Lori Osachy has been tirelessly working to free the world from eating disorders and body hatred.  She received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University and her Master’s degree in social services from Bryn Mawr College of Social Work and Social Research.  She has become a nationally recognized authority in her field and has more than 20 years of experience in clinical counseling, research and teaching.

Lori is a regular contributor to print news, radio and television, most recently having been featured on National Public Radio’s Science Friday series.  Although she entered Cornell as a political science major, her volunteer work as a peer crisis counselor (she eventually became acting director of the program!) illuminated her true purpose in the world – to help and support others to find their true purpose and be free of suffering, especially from the devastating effects of dieting and eating problems.
