The first non-stop trans-Atlantic flight took off from the Chatham Naval Air Station, and from 1917 – 1922 blimps and search planes sought out and engaged German U-boats off the lower cape. The event venue is the “hotel†at the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center that housed overflow navy personnel from the base.

Registration includes a docent-led private opening of the Marconi Museum that chronicles the work of Guglielmo Marconi, whose company built the Chatham station where Morse code operators communicated with ships across the world for nearly 100 years and tells the story of its secret WWII mission.
