Big Medium’s East Austin Studio Tour (EAST) is a free, annual, self-guided art event spanning two weekends in November… and an explosion of eye-popping local creativity that’s really worth your time. EAST provides opportunities for the public to meet the artists and artisans of Austin in their creative spaces, which are sometimes just as fun as the work itself.

We’ll start at Springdale General, 1023 Springdale Road, Unit 11A. (Look for red balloons by the EAST catalogs… at around 3:10 pm we’ll start to roam around 1023 Springdale with the balloons.) With over 400 artworks by EAST artists and free catalogs/maps on site, it’s a perfect place to start. The exhibition is organized by tour number, allowing you to move through the show geographically, discovering your favorite artists along the way.

We’ll proceed down Springdale southbound to visit stops 234-237 and the art mecca that is Canopy (239-314… yes, that’s SEVENTY-THREE art studios; half-mile stroll). Canopy also is conveniently home to the cafe Sa-Ten, where we can decompress afterward. Also, stop P25 enroute is Austin Eastciders.
