Habitat for Humanity: the Mekuria family’s new home

Neither rain, nor wind–and certainly not Ithaca-type snow—kept our Cornell crew for working on our Habitat for Humanity house a few weeks ago. That persistence helps allow the Mekuria family to move in as scheduled on Saturday, March 11th. Whether or not you were able to join us to work with paint brushes and screwdrivers on Cornell Cares Day, you and your family are invited to attend this joyous home dedication at 9:00 a.m.

We do need a bit more help. To date, we have not yet reached our Club goal of raising $2,500 toward the construction of the house. Because Habitat for Humanity – Central Arizona qualifies as an eligible charity, you can make a gift (up to $400 as an individual or $800 as a couple) and receive a direct credit (not a deduction) to your Arizona State Income tax at the time you file your taxes. That means if you haven’t filled for 2016 yet, you may able to receive a credit for that year. Plus, you may also claim your donation as a deduction on your federal return. Any donation amount is much appreciated and carefully utilized.
