Event Details

Cornell University is thrilled to announce that the Cornell Glee Club and Chorus will be touring in the Pacific Northwest this coming January, including a concert stop at Canadian Memorial United Church in Vancouver on January 11, 2020.

The choirs will explore the theme of Generations, as reflected in renaissance motets, folksongs, world music, and contemporary compositions. Tour repertoire includes several noted composers and arrangers from the Pacific Northwest, including Karen Thomas, Sydney Guillaume, Keith Hamel, and Stephen Hatfield, settings of poetry by Toni Morrison and James Agee, and west coast premieres of commissions by Ted Hearne and Hanne Baeverfjord. The concert will conclude as usual with traditional Cornell songs.

Tickets are available online here!

Bringing 100 singers to the west coast is an expensive undertaking, and ticket sales typically cover only 10% of our budget. If you would like to help sponsor the concert, please visit this site or send a check via mail to Cornell University, PO Box 37334, Boone, IA 50037-0334 with the memo “2020 PNW Tour A80-8707.”

Homestays
Because the Glee Club and Chorus are student-run organizations working with a limited budget, we cannot make this tour happen without your support!

There are no formal requirements; we simply ask that the hosts provide a safe place for the students to sleep overnight, a light breakfast in the mornings, and preferably transportation to and from meeting spots. We need to house about 100 students, so we could really use all the help you can provide even if you can only host two students! During our past tours, homestays have been a wonderful way for alumni to connect with current students – students love learning about alumni’s lives post-Cornell and alumni likewise have expressed having had very positive experiences hosting our members.

If you are at all available and interested in hosting two or more students, please contact Izzie Fan ’21, Tour Director, at 610-283-7162 or tour@chorus.cornell.edu.
