Join us for our inaugural Cornell Black Lawyers Alumni Network (CBLAN) soirée at Sylvia’s Restaurant in Harlem. It will be a great opportunity to enjoy good food and conversation while networking with other lawyers who attended Cornell Law School or Cornell University as an undergrad.

This year, CBLAN member and successful corporate lawyer, investment and merchant banker, entrepreneur, musician/composer and philanthropist, Mario Baeza ’71 and Harvard Law School ‘74 will be our guest speaker. After working at Debevoise & Plimpton for over twenty years, Mario found the Baeza Group, the first U.S. Latino owned merchant bank. While at Cornell, he actively participated in many student activities including the famous Willard Straight Takeover in 1969. Later in his career, Mario, together with other famous jazz musicians including Wynton Marsalis, founded Jazz @ Lincoln Center. He will offer his thoughts and advice on our theme for the night “Paving the Way to Excellence: Making Strides in Your Career and Beyond.”
