Big Red Baseball Buffet: Come Meet the Cornell Baseball Team in Atlanta

Atlanta alumni, family, and friends are invited to join the Cornell Alumni Association of Atlanta and Cornell Baseball Association and meet the Cornell Baseball team for dinner on Saturday night, February 24. The event will be held at Bold Monk Brewing Company. Our host is Alan LeBlanc – Hotel ’84.

Enjoy a buffet of ballpark favorites (hot dogs, hamburgers, sides) along with soft drinks. Meet the members of the Big Red baseball team and their coaches. Hear from Dan (Pep) Pepicelli, the Ted Thoren Head Coach of Baseball.

Price: $80 per person for buffet and soft drinks. Cash bar will be available.
NOTE: The price covers the cost of the baseball team players and their coaches so they can attend for free. Thank you for subsidizing their participation in this event.

Cornell Baseball is Coming to Atlanta!

It is said that, when asked when Cornell University would have a Baseball team, Ezra Cornell said “as soon as we can enroll nine students”. This led to Cornell forming a Baseball team in 1869, one of the oldest in the country, and the first intercollegiate team at Cornell.

For it’s 155th year, Cornell’s oldest sport returns to Atlanta to the site of one of the greatest upsets in Cornell history, in any sport. The 1991 defeat of 2nd-ranked Georgia Tech shocked the collegiate baseball world at the time. It has taken Tech 33 years to overcome the pain, but they have finally invited the Big Red back to Atlanta! Cornell Baseball will be playing a three game series against the Yellow Jackets February 23-25, 2024. Many of those same 1991 team members will be coming to Atlanta to reunite and encourage the 2024 edition to repeat their efforts. Several years ago when the Big Red played nationally-ranked Duke in Durham, Cornell fans outnumbered Duke fans and we plan to do exactly the same thing in Atlanta! Bring your family and friends and let’s turn Georgia Tech RED.

The Cornell Atlanta Alumni Association and Cornell Baseball Association have teamed up to plan the following events:

• Friday, February 23: 4 PM – Cornell vs Georgia Tech at Russ Chandler Stadium on GT campus. Tailgating to precede the game. Details to follow.
• Saturday, February 24: 2 PM – Cornell vs Georgia Tech at Russ Chandler Stadium on GT campus. Tailgating to precede the game. Details to follow.
• Saturday, February 24: 5:30 PM – Big Red Baseball Buffet at Hotelie-owned Bold Monk Brewing Company (Alan LeBlanc ’84). Come meet the team and coaches for dinner with your favorite ballpark foods.
• Sunday, February 25: 1 PM – Cornell vs Georgia Tech at Russ Chandler Stadium on GT campus. Tailgating to precede the game. Details to follow.
