Jeff and Christie Weiss join Cornell Class of ’79 classmates to reminisce about fellow alumna and dear friend Ruth Bader Ginsberg. DC resident Jeff Weiss ’79 and his wife, Christie, were introduced to Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg in 1999. This casual connection planted the seed for what became a devoted friendship.  From a fundraising dinner in 1999 to dinners, holidays, correspondence, weddings, opera, flowers and to her memorial service at the US Capitol on September 25, Jeff and his family grew to know and love “Ruth,” nurturing a rare bond with the “demure firebrand” and “legal, cultural and feminist icon” who happened to be Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

In 2019 Jeff and Christie seeded the Ruth Bader ’54 and Martin D. ’53 Ginsburg Program Fund to honor their legacy as Cornellians and their leadership in the law, music and humanities, and invite all who loved and admired Justice Ginsburg to celebrate her life with a contribution to the Fund.

Jeff and Christie share with classmates and our families, their family’s journey of the past two decades: the joyous occasions, beautiful images, and special memories with Ruth.  After the program and Q&A concludes, classmates will have the opportunity to stay online for a mini-reunion and conversation.

Classmates are encouraged to watch with spouses, partners, daughters, sons, and close friends.
