The Cornell Club of Maryland is pleased to announce the launch of our book club, Big Red Bookcase. Each quarter we will feature a fiction novel written by Cornell alumni or faculty. We will primarily meet virtually, with the possibility of a  hybrid model. 

Our first read, “Quest for Kimchi” is Raquel Look’s ‘03 debut novel. We are very excited to share that Raquel will be joining us for our book club meeting!!

About the novel:
Quest for Kimchi is the story of Rachel See, an Asian-American lawyer living in New York who abandons her prestigious legal job after a bad breakup and spontaneously moves to Ireland. Can she create the life she’s always wanted and defy cultural norms? 

It’s My Big Fat Greek Wedding meets Eat Pray Love—with a side of kimchi that accompanies each adventure. 

About the author:
Raquel Look ‘03 is an Asian-American woman with a background in consulting currently living in West Palm Beach, Florida. She’s spent time in Ireland, Greece, and Italy, all locations in the novel. She’s also worked at a large international law firm and drew on that experience in writing Rachel. This is her first novel.
