In the stillness of winter — just ahead of Valentine’s Day — we invite you to slow down, gather, and make something meaningful by hand.
Join us as we make good on our New Year’s Resolution: communicating more intentionally. As always, guests are welcome! As part of the 2026 kick off of our Meet the Maker Series and Friday Night: Date Night Series, please join us for an intimate antique letterpress card-making experience at Idea Chíc, a beloved Denver studio (between Washington Park and Cherry Creek North) devoted to the art of fine printing and thoughtful communication.
Guided by our friends Julie and David, a husband-and-wife letterpress team, we’ll learn the craft of traditional printing and try our own hand on a vintage press from the 1920s. Along the way, we’ll explore the extraordinary history of letterpress itself — a technology first developed in the 1500s by Johannes Gutenberg, whose invention transformed how ideas, stories, and human connection could travel through the world. Each guest will print their own card to take home — a love note, a reconnection, a thank-you, or a message meant just for oneself — using techniques that have endured for centuries because they ask us to slow down, choose words carefully, and communicate with intention. And everyone will leave with a bag of Idea Chic letterpress cards and a sachet along with the small card they produce.
This will be an inviting winter evening — tactile, personal, and gently nostalgic — designed for conversation, curiosity, and the quiet pleasure of making something well.
FOMO ALERT: This event is capped at 12 people to ensure an interactive and hands-on experience. Don’t miss out!
WHEN: Friday, January 30 (6:45pm – 8:15pm) [We encourage guests to have dinner prior to this experience]
WHERE: Idea Chic 4340 E Kentucky Ave, Suite 121, Glendale, CO 80246 [Parking is available on-site – this event takes place in the Workshop Building]
TICKETS: $45 (includes the class, make your own card, a sachet and a bag of pre-made Idea Chic cards and product….and a lifetime of memories)
WHY: In an age of instant, text messages and fleeting words, letterpress reminds us that communication can be intentional, human, and lasting. This gathering is both a pre-Valentine’s celebration and a simple resolution for the year ahead: to communicate more thoughtfully. Space is intentionally limited, and this program will sell out. We encourage you to register today to reserve your place at the press. We look forward to gathering — for craft, for words, and for connection.
