Come celebrate the beginning of 2017 with your favorite way to kick off the new year: by trading one of the “treasures” you received in the last year!

Karen Beckvar, one of our local alumni members, has again generously offered her Phoenix home near 44th and Camelback for our annual potluck event. (Look for Karen’s specific address in the confirmation email you’ll receive once you register.) We had such a great time at her place in the last two years that we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to return!

We’ll take advantage of our January party date with a White Elephant gift swap. After all, everyone is bound to receive at least one oddball present this holiday, right? Please bring a wrapped gift – bonus points for disguising the shape of the item inside – and we’ll engage in a Yankee Swap so you’ll have an opportunity to trade your “treasure” for something even more delightful.

New to this concept? We’ll play a game in which guests can open a wrapped gift or “steal” an unwrapped gift that has already been opened. In previous years, the hot, most-traded treasures have included a cookie jar shaped like a goose, a rustic birdfeeder, a festive holiday apron that looked like Santa’s suit, the Ove Glove, tickets to the Waste Management Open golf tournament, and a Justin Bieber biography.

We’ll provide a main course and some wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages; please bring an appetizer, salad, side dish, dessert, beer, or wine to share and indicate your planned culinary contribution in your registration so we can minimize duplication.

We look forward to toasting the new year with you!
