Are you feeling stuck in your current job situation? Do you long to break out and try something new, but don’t have any idea how to take the next steps to find career happiness and success?

Then come to the next Cornell Networking brunch and hear the “how I pivoted careers and found happiness ” stories of Cornell alumni Richard Zinman ’82 and Sonya Sepahban ‘82.  Richard spent 10 years in the entertainment industry before realizing that wealth management would be a much better fit for him.  Sonya started a second career investing in and mentoring startups, after many years as an engineer and an executive in Aerospace and Defense.

These alumni did it and you can too. Find out their tips and suggestions to making a successful career change.

Richard Zinman: Richard joined Merrill Lynch in 2014. He is currently a Senior Vice President and a Senior Financial Advisor who provides wealth management and financial advisory services to members of the entertainment, digital media and technology communities.  Richard previously spent ten years in the entertainment industry as a producer at Sony Pictures Entertainment and as a studio executive at Savoy Pictures.

Sonya F. Sepahban: Sonya recently co-founded PropelWorks with its first product, JoinIN, where startups meet in small groups to learn and get feedback and support from peers and mentors.  Previously, during her engineering career, her most recent role was Senior Vice President of Engineering, Development and Technology at General Dynamics, where she had significant P&L responsibility for all Land Systems new product development worldwide.

Moderator:
Ilene Friedland: Ilene was most recently a reporter and senior editor with Mergermarket, a media company that had been a division of the Financial Times. Prior to her career in journalism she held executive level positions in financial and operations management at both for-profit and non-profit organizations including PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Justice Resource Institute.
