Based on a true story this 1993 movie is a treasure.  A father quite unexpectedly discovers his 7-year old son is a chess prodigy.  What ensues affects them and all the people around them as a result of life experience and the choices made.  You don’t need to know anything about chess because the movie is about more than that. This film will stay with you.  It’s moving, thought-provoking and worth your time.  Discussion led by Vivian Rosenberg ’67, Santa Monica College film instructor.
