Harvard Club Brownbagger Washington, DC and the Future of Civil Liberties

Join us on Tuesday, July 18th for a timely (to put it mildly) session on the new administration and ways it might impact our lives. Our speaker is Harvard Club Member Mateo Caballero, legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaiʻi and Harvard Law School graduate.

Mateo joined the ACLU in 2016 and has been working to defend and advance the civil rights and liberties of everyone in Hawaiʻi, but particularly those of prisoners, immigrants, LGBTQ individuals, the homeless, the disabled, and other disadvantaged minorities.

Prior to joining the ACLU, he was senior litigation counsel at a local law firm and practiced federal tax law in Washington, D.C.  He also worked as pro bono counsel with Bread for the City, a D.C.-based food, clothing, medical care, and legal and social services provider, representing tenants in eviction and housing conditions cases in landlord-tenant court.
