A weekend seminar with Alexandra Cirone, Steve Israel, and Sarah Kreps
October 28-30, 2022
Much is riding on the 2022 midterms, and with the most polarized electorate in memory, the outcomes are far from certain. These are the first elections affected by the 2020 census, the first to follow widespread allegations of voter fraud, and the first since the election of Joseph R. Biden as President. Consequential events, both outside and inside the United States, and the dissemination of false information surrounding these events, will impact each contest and will shape the future of our country and world.
As part of its long-standing tradition, CAU returns to the beautiful Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, New York, for a pre-election weekend of political commentary, analysis, and discussion. Alexandra Cirone and Sarah Kreps, professors in Cornell’s Department of Government, and former Congressman Steve Israel, director of Cornell’s Institute of Politics and Global Affairs, will examine key contests, show how 2022 trends fit into a larger historic context, talk about how to watch the upcoming races, and, on Sunday, venture predictions about the results.
CAU faculty:
Alexandra Cirone, Assistant Professor in the Cornell University Department of Government and faculty fellow at the Cornell University Institute of Politics and Global Affairs
Steve Israel, Director of the Cornell University Institute of Politics and Global Affairs and former U.S. Congressman, 2001-17
Sarah Kreps, John L. Wetherill Professor in the Cornell University Department of Government and Director of the Cornell Tech Policy Lab
