Start the New Year off by helping your Westchester County neighbors! As part of Cornell Cares Day 2019, we will partner again with The Sharing Shelf, a program from Family Services of Westchester.

WHAT WE WILL DO: We will help sort and organize donations of new and gently used clothing, shoes and coats to benefit The Sharing Shelf’s clients. Please bring a donation of your child or teen’s gently used clothing (see donation guidelines) for the program. The Sharing Shelf also seeks donations of new socks, new underwear, new hats and new gloves.

THE SHARING SHELF: The Sharing Shelf collects new and gently used clothing for infants, children and teens (ages birth to 19). The clothing is sorted by quality, size, season and gender then distributed to local, low-income children at no cost. Each child receives a week’s worth of clothing matched into outfits according to their sizing needs.

THE NEED: Westchester County, NY, home to some of the wealthiest families in the nation, is also home to some of the poorest. Westchester has the 13th highest median family income of any county while nearly 60,000 of our County’s children lives in low-income homes. The Sharing Shelf links those two communities.
