Help us start the New Year by helping your Westchester County neighbors! As part of Cornell Cares Day 2024, CAAW will partner with the Greenburgh Nature Center, located in Scarsdale, NY.

WHO: GREENBURGH NATURE CENTER:
Greenburgh Nature Center is a 33 acre protected green space in the middle of Westchester County’s “urban†Central Avenue. They are leaders in the region for environmental education and best sustainable practices so that people live in harmony with nature and adapt to a changing environment.

The Center’s forest provides essential habitat for wild animals of all kinds, from migrating songbirds to the tiny yellow spotted salamander. The Center is not only home to wild animals, but also supports rescued ambassador animals. As an education facility, the Center sees hundreds of children and visitors each week.

WHAT CAAW VOLUNTEERS WILL DO:
-OUTDOORS: Like many other wild areas, the Center is threatened by invasive species. By helping to clear invasive English ivy, we will open up more habitat for wildlife to thrive.

-INDOORS: As the Center hosts many animals and visitors, extra hands are always in need. CAAW Volunteers will help to clean and organize their greenhouse and education room, and assist with making salads for the animals.
