Please join us for a guided tour of the exhibit Kahinde Wiley: An Archeology of Silence to be conducted by our own alumna, Joyce Olewe. With a background rooted in the world of art, Joyce brings a wealth of experience to the table as a trained sculptor and art historian.

Her journey has led her to share her passion through teaching art application at both K-12 and tertiary levels across Southern California and Houston. As the host of “Brushstrokes and Blueprints,” a bi-monthly program, she delves into the fascinating intersection of art and architecture, offering insights and discussions on various topics. Additionally, as an instructor, she’s had the privilege of providing guided tours at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, for over 15 years, enriching the cultural experiences of countless visitors.

According to the MFAH website: “This exhibit has large scale paintings and sculptures of men and women in repose. Using the visual languages of heroes, martyrs and saints as portrayed in Western European art, Wiley uses Black and Brown individuals to confront the silence surrounding systemic violence and injustice.” You can plan your visit and find more information about the exhibit here.

Tickets are $19.00 per person for adults, $16.00 per person for seniors. For ticket prices for children and/or students and to purchase your ticket, please RSVP with caagh.board@gmail.com. Tickets for this event must be purchased by May 2, 2024.
