Mr. and Mrs. Lum of Manhattan’s Gianguan Auctions Gallery invite the Cornell Asian Alumni Association (CAAA) to a 2018 Reunion Sendoff. This is a remarkable opportunity to wander with friends among eons of classical Chinese masterpieces and learn their secrets from a master scholar.

Mr. Kwong Lum is one of the world’s most renowned collectors of classical Chinese art, and Chief Consultant in classical art to the National Museum of Art in Beijing, China. A revered painter in his own right, Kwong Lum is the only living artist for whom the Chinese government has opened a personal museum.

Longtime supporters of Cornell, the Lums started in the auction business after a successful ten year run with their legendary midtown Manhattan restaurant, A Dish of Salt. At CAAA’s 21st Annual Banquet in 2012, Mr. Lum donated one of his original works to the University. In 2017, the Lums donated two calligraphy scrolls painted by Hu Shih, Class of 1914, who is often called the greatest Cornell alumnus and a great writer, politician, diplomat, social reformer, and prominent celebrity. The Lums have also volunteered to help the Cornell Botanic Gardens redevelop their peony garden.
