New Film Angkor Awakens to Screen in San Francisco and Berkeley

Special Event for Cornellians – Meet Cornell film director Robert Lieberman at The Grove an hour before the show.  There will  be a question and answer event immediately after the showing.

Angkor Awakens – An Inside Look at Cambodia
is an eye-opening documentary snapshot of a nation poised at a political and cultural tipping point.

Following his celebrated film, They Call It Myanmar, Cornell Physicist and film director Robert H. Lieberman’s (’62) new documentary Angkor Awakens premiers nationwide this spring, with a May 19th – 25th week’s run at  San Francisco’s Landmark Clay Theater and Berkeley’s Landmark Shattuck Cinemas.

There will be a Special Event meet the director for Cornellians on Saturday, May 20th, at 6 pm. at The Grove, 2016 Fillmore St an hour before the screening.

Date: Saturday, May 21, 2017

Time: 6 P.M., screening at 7 P.M.

Location: The Grove at 6 PM, Landmark Clay Theater at 7 PM

They Call It Myanmar was a New York Times Critics’ Pick and was hailed by critic Roger Ebert as a 2012 top documentary. Angkor Awakens has already been receiving critical acclaim before its release.

Four years in the making Angkor Awakens builds on Cornell’s mission for International Engagement and includes appearances of key Cornell faculty.
