Come celebrate your favorite way to kick off the New Year: by trading one of the “treasures” you received in the last year!
Karen Beckvar ’75 has again generously offered her Phoenix home near 44th and Camelback for our annual potluck event. Look for Karen’s specific address in the confirmation email you’ll receive once you register. We had such a great time at her place in the last three years that we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to return!
We’ll take advantage of our January party date with a White Elephant gift swap. After all, everyone is bound to receive at least one oddball present this holiday, right? Please bring a wrapped gift – bonus points for disguising the shape of the item inside – and we’ll engage in a Yankee Swap so you’ll have an opportunity to trade your “treasure” for something even more delightful.
New to this concept? We’ll play a game in which guests can open a wrapped gift or “steal” an unwrapped gift that has already been opened. In previous years, the hot, most-traded treasures have included a cookie jar shaped like a goose, a rustic birdfeeder, a festive holiday apron that looks like Santa’s suit, the Ove Glove, tickets to the Waste Management Open golf tournament, a Justin Bieber biography, and bottles of alcohol. Last year there were quite a few trivets traded. Will they reappear again this time around?
We’ll provide a main course and some wine and non-alcoholic beverages; please bring an appetizer, salad, side dish, dessert, beer, or wine to share and indicate your planned culinary contribution in your RSVP so we can minimize duplication.
Please register by 12/28/18 to pay $5 per person in advance of the party. We look forward to toasting 2018 with you!
