3rd Annual CFA Fall Dinner

September 15, 2018
New York Athletic Club
6:30-9:30 pm

Celebrating the success of our Cornell friends at the
World Championships!

The entire Cornell Fencing family is invited to kick off another great season at our annual CFA Fall Dinner, this time at the beautiful and historic New York Athletic Club.  Join us for a very special evening as we celebrate the successes of Cornellian Greg Massialas, former Cornell Coach Buckie Leach, and Cornell Coaches Nicole Ross and Daria Schneider at the 2018 World Championships, raise awareness of our Men’s Varsity reinstatement effort, introduce our new assistant Coach, Olympian Omar Elgeziry, and kickstart the 2018-2019 fencing season.

A few words about our special guests: As the US National Coach for Men’s Foil, Greg Massialas coached his squad to unprecedented success this season, sweeping the World Cups, winning Silver at World Championships and finishing the 2018 season ranked #1 in the world. Buckie Leach, US National Coach for Women’s Foil – which includes our own Nicole Ross – coached his team to the first World Championship Gold in Team Foil for the USA this summer and guided his team to a historic #3 world ranking.  Our Head Coach Daria Schneider served as the team captain for World Championships where Team USA broke its previous records for overall medals, winning 6, and for overall finish, coming in 3rd.

Omar Elgeziry competed in the Rio Olympics in Modern Pentathlon and coaches the current Modern Pentathlete Olympians in fencing. We are thrilled to welcome him to our staff and have him meet our fencing family at the Fall Dinner.

As a special treat, Omar, Nicole and others will take part in a fencing exhibition after dinner. This promises to be a very exciting evening. We hope you can join us!
