The Weir: An Afternoon of Irish Storytelling & Connection

*A New York Times Critic Pick!

An intimate theater outing in Boulder—with a post-show conversation with the actors.
A country pub. A gathering of strangers. Stories that give you goosebumps—and bring you closer.

Join your Cornell community for a special afternoon with Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company (BETC) at Boulder’s Dairy Arts Center. We’ll experience Conor McPherson’s haunting, deeply human play The Weir, then keep the conversation going with two cast members over a drink.

📅 WHEN: Sunday, November 1, 2026, 1:40 p.m. arrival and gathering 2:00 p.m. performance, followed by our actor discussion and Q&A. The performance runs approximately 105 minutes without intermission.

📍 WHERE: Dairy Arts Center | Carsen Theater, Boulder, 2590 Walnut St, Boulder, CO 80302

🎭 THE EXPERIENCE In a rural Irish pub, the local regulars welcome a newcomer with ghost stories, each tale more unsettling than the last. Then she shares a story of her own—and the evening takes an unexpected turn.

Blending humor, folklore and tender camaraderie, The Weir explores the stories we carry and the connections that help us feel less alone. Its celebrated 2025 Irish Repertory Theatre revival earned a New York Times Critic’s Pick. Now, experience BETC’s own interpretation, directed by Candace Orrino.

Our Cornell outing includes:

*Admission to the performance in the intimate Carsen Theater (including more!)

*A post-show discussion and Q&A with two actors, offering a closer look at the characters, creative process and craft of storytelling

*A drink ticket to enjoy as we gather with fellow Cornellians and friends
