Artificial intelligence systems are being deployed across industries and throughout our lives. Whether summarizing search results, simplifying research queries, or acting as trusted advisors, they are changing the way we work and live.
Health care faces particular challenges with questions about data privacy, model opacity, and results that are difficult to explain or justify.
AI may revolutionize diagnosis,or may lead down entirely the wrong path depending on its training data and inputs. Application of algorithms in places like insurance approval of treatments have become particularly fraught. AI hallucinations cause particular challenges in health care, especially when one often has to be an expert to realize when recommendations are based on sound science and when they are completely fabricated. This session will explore the evolving challenges of transparency, fairness, and confidentiality when artificial intelligence is used in health care spaces.
