The good Cornellians can do: Rebecca Scott ’91
According to a recent count, there are about 3,000 unhoused young people living on the streets of Los Angeles on any given night. Hoping to help, Rebecca Scott '91 has been volunteering with Safe Place for Youth. This LA-based nonprofit provides health and wellness services (clothing, food, etc.), and education and career support to unhoused youth.
Rebecca volunteers in the clothing closet, in the community garden and dining hall, and in the education and employment office. She says that she loves the opportunity to work with clients.
“Just like any young people, they have challenges in life,” Rebecca says, “but they face them with humor and tenacity. I've learned so much from them," she adds.
