The good Cornellians can do: Neil Weinstein ’80
Ten years ago, Neil Weinstein '80 and his wife Annette Jensen founded a non-profit in Cambodia, their long-time home. Their goal is to help talented women scholars in that country pursue higher education. Since its founding, Education First Cambodia (EFC), has helped 83 women to graduate from college.
EFC currently supports 40 women scholars who are enrolled in some of Cambodia's most respected universities. The program provides participants with computers, healthcare, training in English and life skills, and the opportunity to live in EFC's dormitory and alumnae house.
“EFC empowers highly talented female university students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to get a degree,” Neil says. “With EFC’s support, many of these young women focus on STEM and medical fields in which women are typically underrepresented.”
