The good Cornellians can do: Bridgette Rooney ’20
When Bridgette Rooney ’20 was encouraged by her employer to do volunteer work in the local community, she jumped in with both feet. Volunteering was a new experience for her—and something which she has come to love.
Bridgette volunteers at nOURish Bridgeport, a food pantry that serves local residents. Bridegport, Connecticut is considered a ‘food desert,’ because there’s limited access to affordable, nutritious foods.
“Through volunteering with nOURish Bridgeport, I have been able to meet and connect with people outside of my normal circle,” Bridgette says. “Meeting new folks helps me learn more about my community and feel more connected. And, each time I volunteer, I see hundreds of people leave nOURish with quality food—including many families with small children.”
